Celebrate Oldsmar, Labor Day Weekend, Saturday, September 3, 2011 - Look for our booth to donate food items and buy snacks to benefit our program.
Oldsmar Days Parade, March 2012 - Stand along the parade route with your food donation and we will march by and pick it up.
Donations of new and gently used clothing and shoes for children and adults are always needed. We especially need children’s and teen sized clothes, and maternity clothes.
Donations can be made the host site Community United Methodist Church of Oldsmar, 207 Buckingham Avenue East, Oldsmar, Tuesday – Friday 9 a.m. - 12 noon, and the 1st & 3rd Saturdays of each month from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Household Item Donations
We also accept donations of the following items in good condition: children’s books, toys and stuffed animals, bikes, linens (sheets, blankets, towels and washcloths, tablecloths), dishes, and pots and pans. These items help families and individuals who are starting anew in difficult circumstances.
If you need volunteer hours for a school or university program or scholarship, we may be able to satisfy yopur needs. We currently have a Palm Harbor International Baccalaureate (IB) student and an Eckerd College student gaining community service hours by volunteering with us.
If you need volunteer hours due to a court adjudication, we are authorized to help and are registered with Pinellas County.
If you just are seeking to donate your time and talent to a group who is there to help others, please contact us.
We need volunteers for the following upcoming events:
Fundraiser – find and obtain sources of private funding for the rent and utility assistance program, or for emergency purchasing for the food pantry.
Grant Writer – write, submit and track grant applications on behalf of Oldsmar Cares to local, state, and federal government agencies, as well as to private foundations and corporations.
Web Site Administration – update the Oldsmar Cares web site, www.oldsmarcares.org, as well as the Facebook (www.facebook.com/oldsmarcares) and MySpace (www.myspace.com/oldsmarcares) sites.
Community Closet – processing clothes donations, including sorting, folding, and stocking - this can be done during or outside closet hours. We also need help when the closet is open to customers on Saturdays.
