Our Mission
Our mission is to provide stop gap rent and utility assistance, a food pantry, and a clothes closet, all at no cost, to those in need in the greater Oldsmar area.
Our Vision
Our ultimate vision is to not be needed in the greater Oldsmar community. But until that day, we are here to fill the gap when called upon.
Our Guiding Values
Anyone may find themselves in a situation where they cannot meet their own or their family’s basic needs of food, shelter and clothing. We believe that we should not sit idly by. We are called to serve.
Our History
Oldsmar Cares was started in 1997 by Community United Methodist Church of Oldsmar to meet the needs of Oldsmar residents for rent and utility assistance. A small food pantry was added the next year. In 2002 the Community Closet became a part of the mission.
In July 2009, Oldsmar Cares became a separate 5.01(c)(3) organization to expand our ability to meet the growing demand for our program.
Stewardship and Accountability
Oldsmar Cares relies mainly on private donations and fund-raisers. Community United Methodist Church of Oldsmar provides the host site and administrative support for Oldsmar Cares.
