Oldsmar, FL, December 21, 2015 - Join Oldsmar Cares for their 6th Annual Wine and Food Gala, Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 6 to 9 pm at the Nielsen Ballroom (501 Brooker Creek Blvd, Oldsmar). This year’s carnival-themed event is destined to be a night you will never forget as many of Oldsmar’s best restaurants will be treating guests to their signature dishes and attendees are encouraged to dress in their favorite carnival attire. Based on the famous Mardi Gras Carnival, guests can expect themed food, masks, beads, and even cirque-type dancing provided by the talented performers of Dance & Circus Arts of Tampa Bay. The Oldsmar Cares annual Gala is always a marquee event enjoyed by hundreds of people and this year’s Carnival is sure to carry on this legacy while also allowing the Oldsmar community to band together and help their neighbors in need.

Last year, the Oldsmar Cares Gala was enjoyed by over 350 people and raised in excess of $63,000. It was so successful, in fact, that it was coined the “greatest Gala in our 5 year history” by Oldsmar Cares Gala Co-Chair David Wallace. Many guests raved about the superior auction items, decorations, and the excellent wine and cuisine offered. “Last year’s event really showed the spirit of the Oldsmar community and their willingness to give back to their community,” says Wallace. “This year we really focused on building on this momentum while also providing a forum for our guests to really have a good time with great food, entertainment, and company.”

This year’s Gala features 11 top Oldsmar eateries – including Amici’s Catered Cuisine, Bakery Mélange, Beef O'Brady's, City Fish, Cuban Breezes, Daddy’s Grill, Famous Pizza, Rumba Grill and Salt Rock. Gala attendees will be able to embark on a culinary tour of Oldsmar’s finest restaurants and provide their feedback in the form of custom awards. For example, this past year Amici's won Best Presentation and Salt Rock won Best Taste. At this year’s event, Cuban Breezes will look to defend their title of Best Overall (aka "People's Choice") – which they won last year as well. Former dishes have included hog fish with collard greens, sweet potato, and plantain chips - courtesy of Rumba Island Bar and Grill – which won the 2013 Gala Best Taste Award. Guests should plan to arrive to this event hungry but, rest assured, they certainly will not leave this way.

Mayor Doug Bevis will reprise his role as master of ceremony and auctioneer for the event. Each Oldsmar City Council member will have a personally customized package of auction items that they will present during our live auction. If previous years are any indication, this is not something to be missed!

Guests will also be able to view an actual NASCAR racecar up close and personal, provided and displayed by Baldwin Racing.
