Oldsmar, FL, January 26, 2017 - Join Oldsmar Cares for their 7th Annual Wine and Food Gala on Thursday, February 9, 2017, from 6 to 9 pm at the Nielsen Ballroom (501 Nielsen Way, Oldsmar). Based on the concepts of prosperity, growth, and expansion, Oldsmar Cares continues to thrive. This year’s event centers around the development of a new building for Oldsmar Cares so more services can be offered to the needy.
About Oldsmar Cares
Oldsmar Cares is a 501(c)(3) all-volunteer organization providing stop-gap financial assistance, food and clothing – all at no cost – to those in need in the greater Oldsmar area. Oldsmar Cares is located at 163 State Road 580 West, Oldsmar, FL.
The Gala will be unforgettable as many of the Oldsmar area’s best restaurants will be treating guests to their signature dishes. Guests can expect themed food, decorations, and to "Raise the Roof" in a fun-filled atmosphere that will surely leave you ready for the best that's yet to come for this wonderful organization. The Oldsmar Cares annual Gala is always a marquee event enjoyed by over 350 people. This year’s Development Party is an exciting event that allows the Oldsmar community to band together and help their neighbors in need.
Guests will also be able to view a 4-time championship winning open wheel modified race car from Baldwin Race Car and entertainment from Dance and Circus Arts of Tampa Bay.
Last year the Oldsmar Cares Gala had a Mardi Gras theme that raised $70,895. It was so successful, in fact, that it was coined the “Greatest Gala in our six-year history” by 2016 Gala Co-Chair David Wallace. Many guests raved about the superior auction items, colorful decorations, the excellent wine and cuisine, and the easy-going, enjoyable environment.

Oldsmar Cares needs a larger space to offer more programs and services. Groundbreaking is planned for 2017. “Oldsmar Cares will be 20 years old this year so reaching this milestone along with the new building is a dream come true to represent this platinum year achievement,” said this year’s Gala Co-Chair, Michelle Baldwin. The new building will be constructed adjacent to the current location on SR 580 West.
Tickets for the 7th Annual Oldsmar Cares Wine and Food Gala are only $60 per person in advance - visit http://www.oldsmarcares.org/gala.html. This is a sold-out event each year that never fails to impress, so don’t delay.
Oldsmar Mayor Doug Bevis will reprise his roles as Master of Ceremonies and Auctioneer for the event. Auction items will include vacation getaways, fantasy car weekend, sports memorabilia and lots more. If previous years are any indication, this is not something to be missed!
This year’s Gala features 11 top Oldsmar area eateries including Applebee’s, Amici’s Catered Cuisine, Casa Cosenza, Green Market Café, Hot Tuna, Mother’s, Rumba Island Bar & Grill, Salt Rock Tavern, Southern Foodservice and Suegra Tequila Cantina. Guests should plan to arrive hungry but, rest assured, they certainly will not leave that way. Gala attendees will be able to embark on a culinary tour of our finest restaurants and provide their feedback in the form of custom awards. Last year Bakery Mélange won “Best Presentation” and Hot Tuna won “Best Taste”. At this year’s event, Amici's will look to take home the title of “Best Overall” (aka "People's Choice") – which they won last year. Former dishes have included hog fish with collard greens, sweet potato, and plantain chips - courtesy of Rumba Island Bar and Grill.
