Oldsmar, FL, March 7, 2014 - The Men and Women’s Professional Closet located at Oldsmar Cares is a collaboration of the Oldsmar Woman’s Club and Oldsmar Cares. This was an idea that started with the Oldsmar Woman’s Club. Christy Burns and Laurie Bonham worked on this project through the summer of 2013. It was initially going to be a Woman’s Club project, but after researching other organizations who had successfully created a voluntary Clothes Closet, it was determined the Woman’s Club did not have all the necessary tools to bring it to fruition. “But we knew who did….Oldsmar Cares,” said Laurie Bonham, Oldsmar Woman’s Club.
By marrying the assets of the Oldsmar Woman’s Club to provide the clothing, with Oldsmar Cares ability to deliver services to the public, we hope to serve our community in a way not previously available.
A meeting with David Wallace, board member of Oldsmar Cares brought about a consolidated plan where the Woman’s Club would provide gently used women’s clothing suitable for a job interview, work environment or a special occasion. Women’s clothes, purses and shoes, were brought to Oldsmar Cares and continue to be replenished. Men’s business suits and attire are also being donated and are now available.
Oldsmar Cares is a 501(c)(3) all-volunteer organization providing stop-gap financial assistance, food and clothing – all at no cost – to those in need in the greater Oldsmar area. Oldsmar Cares is located at 163 State Road 580 West, Oldsmar, FL.
